Established in September 2021, Afrikanbite is a testament to the rich culinary traditions of Africa, brought to you by Jasmine, originally from Ghana, West Africa. Having lived in the United Kingdom and the United States, Jasmine brings a wealth of international experience to the heart of Brisbane.
Jasmine runs the business with a dedicated team of two to four individuals, depending on the day’s demands. A regular day at Afrikanbite begins with Jasmine dropping off her kids at school, arriving at work, and cooking for the day. From taking stock, reordering supplies, to serving customer meals and answering phones, Jasmine is involved in every aspect of running the business.
Jasmine’s journey into the restaurant business began when she started visiting Australia as a tourist in 2014. Noticing a lack of African restaurants in Brisbane, she saw a niche opportunity in the industry. Despite her background in I.T and an MBA, Jasmine worked towards achieving her dream, which materialized in late 2021.
What inspires us at Afrikanbite is the love people have for the food we serve. Online reviews and customer feedback make us realize our effort makes a big difference in our society. Afrikanbite has become a home for some of our regular customers who have busy schedules and can’t make enough time to cook.
We encourage everyone, especially those who have never tasted African food, to come and give it a try. We assure you; you will experience delightful flavors you have never tasted before.
At Afrikanbite, we pride ourselves on the variety of our dishes. Our ingredients are sourced locally (Costco, Aldi, Woolies, and Coles), with some special items imported through African grocery retailers.
Our signature dishes, Jollof rice and Egusi, are our best sellers and a must-try for anyone new to African cuisine. Jasmine, our chef, finds it hard to choose a favourite meal because she loves all the meals she cooks.
